The exponential curve has started in Italy, and it's beginning here.
People are thinking about this 1 dimensionally and not considering the peripheral effects.
Did some math.
Using only official current numbers for rates and spread
(The Lancet, NEMJ, WHO, AHA)
RO: 7+
28 days infectious asymptomatic incubation period
9 days survivability on hard surfaces
Airborne and droplet infection
327,000,000 US population
80% infectious rate
261,600,000 infected
20% serious complication rate
52,320,000
3.4% CFR (WHO)
8,894,400 dead
924,107 total all hospital beds in US
792,417 beds in community hospitals (clinics and rural)
94,800 ICU critical care beds
65% average occupancy
315,121 available beds, total all (.6% of serious cases)
33,180 ICU beds available (.06%) of cases.
That's not accounting for any additional everyday normal emergencies and mishaps and diseases.
